This modern renovation in the heart of La Zagaleta, Benahavis, transformed a traditional villa into a minimalist luxury dream home. Our architects oversaw the extensive reform, which included a bespoke kitchen, a private luxury home spa with sauna, and a complete structural update. Inside, we elevated every space with high-end finishes and exclusive furniture, highlighted by a stunning feature wall and fireplace in the living room.
The transformation extends to the outdoors, where an expanded swimming pool alongside a renewed jacuzzi and decking are now framed by refined landscaped gardens that blend seamlessly with the area’s natural beauty and Mediterranean surroundings.
ROMA Arquitectura Studio completed an ambitious villa renovation in one of Europe’s most exclusive enclaves. Recognised as leading architects in La Zagaleta, the studio harmonised contemporary design with Benahavís’s natural landscape to create an exceptional residence. The project was bespoke engineered throughout to maximise Mediterranean light and includes a professional chef’s kitchen, an extensive outdoor leisure area with an octagonal jacuzzi deck, and a subterranean private spa, establishing a benchmark in modern luxury architecture.
The heart of this ambitious villa renovation is its fluid, open‑plan social realm. By removing traditional partitions, a continuous sanctuary was created in which the formal lounge and dining areas coexist in perfect structural harmony. Every design decision within these expansive volumes was calibrated to frame the Andalusian landscape, employing floor‑to‑ceiling panoramic glazing that floods the interior with Mediterranean light and forges a seamless connection to the rolling hills beyond.
The formal lounge juxtaposes clean, minimalist volumes with honed Grigio Carnico marble feature walls. This dramatic backdrop anchors an integrated contemporary fireplace and the spectacular Ilario modular curved sofa by Cattelan Italia in a soft ivory tone, accompanied by a curated pair of textured bouclé accent armchairs. The seating composition is defined by a plush, solid‑tone neutral rug that introduces tactile warmth, while the iconic Planeta suspension lamp by Cattelan Italia — with its burnished iron frame and delicate glass spheres — hangs above, casting a warm, sophisticated ambient glow across the lounge.
Flowing naturally from the lounge, the dining area is a study in curated contemporary design. The space is organised around the Skorpio Keramik Premium dining table by Cattelan Italia, instantly recognisable for its sculptural, intersecting metallic base in a brushed finish. This centrepiece is paired with Magda leather dining chairs by Cattelan Italia, featuring solid wood frames that echo the villa’s organic material palette. Crowned by an architectural multi‑axis linear pendant formed from interlocking geometric metal frames and satin glass spheres, the dining area provides an exceptional setting for both family life and grand entertaining. A consistent palette of warm ivories, rich metals and large‑format ivory marble slabs spans the entire floor, reinforcing the pavilion’s understated European refinement — delivered by ROMA Arquitectura Studio, leading architects in La Zagaleta.
Conceived as a professional chef’s kitchen, this culinary pavilion balances high‑end functionality with a dramatic, deep‑toned material palette. Designed to move away from conventional, sterile kitchen aesthetics, the space embraces rich textures and dark tones to create an atmosphere of sophisticated warmth.
The undeniable centrepiece is an oversized waterfall island, meticulously clad in honed Laurent Gold marble with bronze and gold striations. This monolithic element functions as both a culinary workstation and an informal social hub, integrating a seamless induction hob and Isabel leather bar stools by Cattelan Italia. Behind it, a matching full‑height marble splashback reflects the natural light streaming through the dark‑framed windows, which perfectly frame the surrounding palms and the golden Andalusian sunset.
Every functional element has been concealed with architectural precision. Floor‑to‑ceiling cabinetry in dark, vertical‑grained smoked oak houses flush‑fitted, integrated appliances, maintaining an uninterrupted minimalist profile. Suspended above the island, a trio of Tom Dixon Copper Shade pendants provides a striking metallic contrast, introducing a warm reflective quality into the space — conceived by ROMA Arquitectura Studio, luxury architects in La Zagaleta.
Designed as a private pavilion dedicated to rest, the master suite combines organic warmth with precise structural detailing. The spatial layout is oriented entirely toward a private terrace, where floor‑to‑ceiling sliding glass doors frame panoramic views of the landscaped gardens and the sweeping Nueva Andalucía panorama, blurring the boundary between interior comfort and nature.
The focal point of the suite is a bespoke vertical wood‑slat feature wall that introduces depth and rhythmic texture to the space. Seamlessly integrated into this timber backdrop is an oversized, vertically channelled headboard upholstered in soft taupe nubuck, flanked by floating, cantilevered oak nightstands that preserve an uninterrupted floor profile. This composition anchors a low‑profile bed with a natural oak frame that matches the surrounding joinery. Suspended with symmetry above each nightstand, minimalist capsule pendant lights introduce a clean geometric element, casting a soft directional glow across the wood grain.
Every material underpins a sense of quiet luxury. The room is grounded by premium wide‑plank European oak flooring, complemented by a plush, bespoke neutral wool rug beneath the bed. A considered palette of warm ivories, earthy browns and soft stone tones is articulated through a layered lighting scheme, completing an environment of understated refinement — delivered by ROMA Arquitectura Studio, luxury La Zagaleta architects.
Conceived as a private wellness sanctuary, the master en‑suite prioritises organic textures and balanced spatial proportions. The plan is anchored by a panoramic window that frames views of lush Mediterranean foliage, flooding the space with soft natural light. This aperture is fitted with a minimalist roller blind that aligns with the clean lines of the architecture, controlling daylight and ensuring complete privacy when required.
Positioned to capture the landscape, a minimalist freestanding oval bath is elevated on a low, organically curved stone plinth and paired with a sleek floor‑mounted mixer. Adjacent, the grooming zone comprises a bespoke double‑sink vanity crafted from rich, dark‑toned timber. This floating timber unit supports dual countertop ceramic basins and wall‑mounted chrome tapware, mirrored above by an expansive wood‑framed mirror that amplifies the room’s sense of scale.
The material palette reinforces the villa’s signature European refinement. Warm, large‑format cream stone slabs wrap floors and walls, transitioning into a meticulously detailed mosaic within the walk‑in shower, which incorporates integrated illuminated recessed niches. The interplay of natural stone, deep wood grain and premium fixtures creates an atmosphere of serene, understated luxury — delivered by ROMA Arquitectura Studio, La Zagaleta Top-Rated Architects.
